May–June
Longer daylight, fewer crowds, bears emerging. Cooler temperatures — dress in layers.
July–August
Peak cruise season. Salmon runs begin; bear viewing improves at Chilkoot River. Warmest weather (relative).
September
Salmon peak for bears and eagles. Fewer ships, autumn colours. Shorter days.
October–February (off-season)
Maximum bald eagle concentrations at Chilkat — fewer cruise calls but world-class eagle photography for land-based visitors.
